Robert Oatley Wines approached us to create and develop a new brand and name for their McLaren Vale Tempranillo Grenache. Inspired by the varietal, our design strategy was to visually capture the fiery essence, culture and passion of Spain. The mighty black bull seemed the ideal character to capture this vision and become the focal point of the label. The distinctive image was hand-crafted to incorporate patterns inspired by Andalusian tiles and Spanish textiles. We worked closely with the printer to select the uncoated paper stock that would best contrast with the selected areas of the patterns that were embossed for tactile appeal. The result is a highly impactful package that immediately captures the character and essence of the wine within.
